Fatty Acid Methyl Ester

Fatty Acid Methyl Ester

Fatty acid methyl ester is yellow clear transparent liquid (colorless after rectification), with a mild characteristic odor, structural stability and no corrosion.

Fatty acid methyl ester is the raw material of widely-used surface active agents (SAA). Starting from the fatty acid methyl esters, two kinds of surface active agents can be produced, one is to produce fatty acid methyl ester sulfonate (MES) through sulfonation and neutralization and the other is to produce fatty alcohol through hydrogenation. 57% of the fatty alcohol in the world is produced by the fatty acid methyl ester and 43% by fatty acid. Alcohol ether (AE) is produced through ethoxylation of fatty alcohol. Alcohol ether sulfate (AES) is produced through sulfonation and neutralization of AE. Primary alkyl sulfate (PAS) is produced through sulfonation and neutralization of fatty alcohol.

Therefore, the fatty acid methyl ester is the raw materials and intermediates of MES, AE, AES and PAS, etc. The supply of Fat, fatty alcohol, fatty acid methyl ester and other raw materials determines the efficiency of SAA production.
